The sun shines bright,
innocuous,
disregarding the signs,
the lilting songs,
stars, stripes, undulating
at half their height,
twice their magnificence,
and all their energy -
bodies stumbling through fields,
half drunk on sleepless nights,
looking through red rimmed eyes
and broken hearts -
half formed memories and
the fleeting present
too much to handle
for this fast paced world on hold -
this jungle of humanity
pulsing in common dissonance,
throbbing with common heartache,
common wound, common bond
That makes us one voice.
innocuous.
and the sun still shines.
